Sustainability at Mantra Sun City

Here at Mantra Sun City, we are committed to embedding sustainability into every facet of our daily operations. We recognise that sustainability is an ongoing journey and are continually striving to reduce our carbon footprint wherever possible. Below are some of the initiatives we have implemented to date.

Dry Amenities

We are delighted to share our ongoing commitment to reducing single-use plastics in our guest rooms. As part of this initiative, we have made a significant decision to eliminate single-use dry amenities, taking a bold step towards a plastic-free environment. By removing single-use plastic amenities such as individually packed soap and shower caps from our guest rooms, we are significantly reducing our environmental footprint.

Large Amenities

As part of our ongoing efforts, we have made the proactive decision to move to large format amenities, replacing our single-use plastic common amenities with eco-friendly pump dispensers throughout the hotel. By eliminating single-use plastic bottles, we are significantly reducing the amount of waste generated by our operations, reinforcing our dedication to environmental stewardship and reflects our ongoing efforts to improve sustainability in all aspects of our hotel.

Food Waste

At Mantra Sun City, we are committed to reducing food wastage and promoting sustainable practices across our food and beverage outlets. We understand the importance of minimising our environmental impact while delivering exceptional culinary experiences to our guests through and are implementing the below initiatives:

• Following waste reduction strategies
• Engaging local suppliers
• Maintaining FIFO protocols
• Monitoring sustainability – Opting paper cups over plastic materials

Recycling

At Mantra Sun City, all hotel waste is separated into co-mingle, cardboard, food waste and general waste, minimising our impact on landfill.  In addition, we engage with local charity 10 Cent Tom to keep recyclables out of landfill and help raise funds to support employment opportunities for people with disabilities.

Community Support

We are committed to maintaining strong connections with our local community and give back wherever possible.

• Unclaimed Lost & Found items are handed over to local Op Shops on an ongoing basis for community support.
• During every refurbishment, Manchester items such as blankets are handed over to AWLQ for extended use.

Water Usage

Do you know what $1 of water usage charges buys you?

Because we use water for so many things in our households, it can be hard sometimes to see exactly what our water bill buys us. You might be surpised to learn just how much water you get for around $1:

• 1,000 cups of drinking water
• 6x 4 minute showers
• 25 full dishwasher loads
• 82 flushes of the toilet

With this in mind, please limit shower time to 3 minutes or less to conserve water.

Saving Energy

Help us save energy and embrace sustaniability by turning off the A/C and lights when you leave.

The Sustainable Tourism Certification program assesses our environmental, socio-economic, cultural and responsible management principles to ensure we are minimising our negative impacts and maximising benefits for the environment, communities and culture. This achievement reinforces our ongoing commitment to delivering sustainable hospitality and creating positive impacts for our team, guests, local community and planet.

Accessibility

At Mantra Sun City, inclusivity is paramount to all our guests and staff. Currently, we do not have dedicated accessible rooms, but all our guests with assistance dogs are heartly welcomed. Our highly trained team is equipped to assist guests with special needs before and during their stay.
